Day 1Chengdu → Kangding (3,200m)

  • Drive through the Erlangshan Tunnel (scenic Sichuan-Tibet Highway).

  • Visit Luding Iron Chain Bridge (historic Qing Dynasty site).

  • Explore Kangding (gateway to Kham), stroll along Paoma Mountain.

  • Overnight: Kangding (acclimatization).

Day 2Kangding → Tagong → Garzê (3,400m)

  • Morning: Tagong Grassland & Tagong Monastery (golden-roofed, sacred Avalokiteshvara statue).

  • Afternoon: Drive to Garzê, stop at Yala Snow Mountain viewpoint.

  • Overnight: Garzê (traditional Tibetan guesthouse).

Day 3Garzê → Derge (3,300m)

  • Full-day drive through Chola Mountain Pass (4,900m, breathtaking views).
